Epiphany: e·piph·a·ny – noun, plural – nies

a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, or commonplace occurrence or experience.

Zoe Dines’ life-changing epiphany was less ‘intuitive perception’ and more ‘kiwi fencing worker’. While working in her local pub in the English village of Cattistock, it was an expat New Zealander there for farm work that provided her with an idea for her big OE.

So with an international business degree under her belt and a friend in tow, Zoe departed her picturesque Dorset village and set off for the South Island where she fast made Queenstown her permanent home.

After seven years in the resort, Zoe had trod the well-worn Queenstown path of tourism roles, including working with jetboating, reservations technology, trekking and bungy companies and in what has become a bit of a tradition amongst our team, she made the move from tourism to the real estate sector, property management to be exact.

We’re delighted she chose that particular well-worn path, and with her infectious giggle, customer services genius and meticulous attention to detail, she’s an asset to the property management team.

A practical, down to earth, balanced approach to life has stood Megan Cowie in good stead through high-flying careers and overseas adventures. The self-confessed tomboy (growing up with two brothers can do that to a girl!) has shone out in her career history by being the person not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into whatever it takes to put her company on the path to success, always with a smile on her face.

Hailing from Southland, Megan’s motivated approach to business and problem-solving abilities saw her as Business Development Officer for the SBS bank. Her head for figures and drive to succeed took her right across the world to the UK, where she spent 9 years in the high-pressure world of investment banking. The call of home eventually overtook the lure of London life for the Winton girl, bringing her back to NZ, specifically to Queenstown, where she was quickly snapped up by local rental company legend Hayley Stevenson as a property manager. As an experienced and knowledgeable property manager, a few years later Megan was ready for a change, bringing her to lead the team at hoamz to rent.

Thriving on a challenge and always ready to exceed the expectations of tenants and owners alike, Megan’s philosophy is ‘work environment is key; It’s amazing what you can achieve when the team are all working together, and that’s exactly why hoamz to rent are carving out such a great reputation’.

And what does the career girl do to relax? A hearty climb up Queenstown’s many mountains or a ride down on her mountain bike, followed by a pot of her favourite bluff oysters and a nice glass of local wine.

Sounds like a good balance to us.

When looking for a rental home in Queenstown for our family we ran into some problems. Agents not showing up to viewings and the tenants having to show us through and being shown properties which clearly did not fit the description we had asked for.
Then we encountered "hoamz to rent Queenstown", thankfully. Their staff have been professional throughout the whole process. They have certainly worked hard for us, whilst using common sense. Listening to what we asked for and showing us through a selection of SUITABLE properties. Giving good honest advice, benefits and features of the properties and areas, and indications of power costs etc. We have made things difficult as during the contractual process we have been in another town. The team have been excellent. Even to the extent of going the extra mile to assist with reconnection of power and even delivering the key so the removal company could get in. Libby Jack is something of a rarity in this area. In a culturally diverse town where so many of the residents hail from far-off shores, being a 5^th generation Queenstowner is a pretty special achievement.  

After initially dabbling in nursing, Libby opted for a career in the dynamic world of real estate back in 1992. Almost two decades later, she’s travelled overseas, climbed the career ladder and created a 6^th generation of Queenstowners of her own. Drawing on her years of experience, passion for property and drive to succeed, Libby’s ever-present smile and positive outlook are a perfect fit for her role in business development for the hoamz to rent team.

Achievement runs in the veins of the local gal as much as the waters of the Wakatipu do. Along with working hard, raising a family and squeezing in running, cycling and gym sessions, the mother of two spends weekends cruising on the family boat, plus fishing and camping around the area. When asked how on earth she fits it all in; ‘I have very high expectations of myself’ she answers with a grin.

In charge of developing the business for hoamz to rent, Libby’s priority is ‘growing the rental portfolio and consolidating our place on the property management map’. Her likeable personality combined with unsurpassed area knowledge and undeniably high standards make her a winner in our book.
